This week I'm going to talk about and up and coming country star named Hunter Hayes. Hunter Hayes sounds a lot like Rascal Flatts but without the harmonies. Two of his songs that are really good are Wanted and Somebody's Heartbreak. These songs are really catchy and have very good lyrics. Here are the lyrics for Wanted followed by the video by Hunter Hayes.

You know I'd fall apart without you
I don't know how you do what you do
'Cause everything that don't make sense about me
Makes sense when I'm with you
Like everything that's green, girl I need you
But it's more than one and one makes two
Put aside the math and the logic of it
You gotta know you're wanted too

'Cause I wanna wrap you up
Wanna kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
And I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
Never let you forget it
Yeah, I wanna make you feel wanted

Anyone can tell you you're pretty
(Yeah)
You get that all the time, I know you do
But your beauty's deeper than the makeup
And I wanna show you what I see tonight

When I wrap you up
When I kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
And I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
Never let you forget it
'Cause baby I wanna make you feel wanted

As good as you make me feel
I wanna make you feel better
Better than your fairy tales
Better than your best dreams
You're more than everything I need
You're all I ever wanted
All I ever wanted

And I just wanna wrap you up
Wanna kiss your lips
I wanna make you feel wanted
And I wanna call you mine
Wanna hold your hand forever
Never let you forget it
Yeah, I wanna make you feel wanted
Yeah, baby I wanna make you feel -
Wanted
'Cause you'll always be wanted

Another great song that I just found out about a couple of weeks ago is Somebody's Heartbreak. This song if very heart felt and very good. Here are the lyrics to Somebody's Heartbreak followed by the video by Hunter Hayes.

'd love to know just what you're thinkin'
Every little river, runnin' through your mind
You give and you take
You come and you go
You leave me here wonderin' if I'll ever know
How much you care or how much you don't
Whatever you need, whatever you want

If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak
If you're gonna be somebody's mistake
If you're gonna be somebody's first time,
Somebody's last time, baby be mine
If you're lookin' to be somebody's 'just friends',
A little laughin', little lovin', never callin' again, that's just fine
If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak
Be mine, yeah
Oh, be mine

I guess that all I'm tryin' to tell ya
Is a minute with you is better than two without
Oh, I won't be a fool but I can't play it cool
So I'm playin' safe and I'm breakin' the rules
I'm wishin' I had what I know that you got
So if you're comin' my way then please don't stop

If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak
If you're gonna be somebody's mistake
If you're gonna be somebody's first time,
Somebody's last time, baby be mine
If you're lookin' to be somebody's 'just friends',
A little laughin', little lovin', never callin' again, that's just fine
If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak
Be mine
Oh, woah
If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak
Or somebody's mistake
Somebody's first time, or their last time, baby be mine
If you're lookin' to be somebody's 'just friends',
A little laughin', little lovin', never callin' again, that's just fine
If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak
Be mine (If you're gonna be somebody's heartbreak)
Be mine (If you're gonna be somebody's mistake)
Oh, I'll take my chances
If you're gonna be someone's heartbreak
If you're gonna be someone's mistake
Somebody's first time, somebody's last time
Be mine
Oh, be mine
Be mine
Baby, baby, baby, be mine, all mine
If you're gonna break someone's heart, yeah
Might as well, might as well be mine

This week in class we listened to the first album of Led Zeppelin. I didn't know any songs on the album but the ones I liked were Your Time is Gonna Come and Dazed and Confused. Here's is the video for Your Time is Gonna Come.

My next favorite was Dazed and Confused so here is the video for it.

A band that I have learned to like over the years is Matchbox Twenty. They have a ton of great songs and Rob Thomas is an amazing musician but one of my favorite songs by them is How Far We've Come. This is and up beat song with a catchy beat and good lyrics. Here is the music video for How Far We've Come by Matchbox Twenty.

Another song of their's that just recently came out that I like is called She's So Mean which talks about a girl that this guy wants, but she is mean and he is asking himself why he can't let her go. Here are the lyrics of She's So Mean followed by the music video.

I kn-kn-know a girl, she gets what she wants all the time
'Cause she's fine
But for an angel, she's a hot hot mess
Make you so blind
But you don't mind

'Cause she's an uptown, get-around, anything-goes girl, girl
She's a hardcore, candy-store, gimme-some-more girl, girl

She'll make you take her to the club, but then she leaves with her friends
She likes to stay late at the party, 'cause the fun never ends
And all her clothes are on the floor and all your records are scratched
She's like a one-way ticket 'cause you can't come back!

[Chorus:]
Saying yeah... you want her, but she's so mean
(You’ll never let her go. Why don’t you let her go?)
Yeah... you want her, but she's so mean
(You’ll never let her go. Why don’t you let her go?)

You kn-kn-know that if you don’t shut your mouth, she’ll freak out
You better get your shit together, ‘cause she’s bringing you down now
Yeah boy you better, you better
'Cause she's an uptown, get-around, anything-goes girl, girl
She's a hardcore, candy-store, gimme-some-more girl, girl

She’s got her wicked sense of humor, can’t believe what she says
She drinks Bacardi in the morning ‘til it goes to her head
And all you want is just to hold her, but she don’t go for that
She has a hard time coming when she can’t hit back

[Chorus]

Every now and then, she makes you just a little bit crazy
She’ll turn a knife into your back and then she’s calling you baby, crazy

She'll make you take her to the club, but then she leaves with her friends
She likes to stay late at the party, 'cause the fun never ends
And all her clothes are on the floor and all your records are scratched
She's like a one-way ticket 'cause you can't come back!

[Chorus x2]

This week in class we listened to the Beatles Abbey Road album and the only songs I really knew were Come Together and Here Comes the Sun. I remember performing Here Comes the Sun as a sixth grader in middle school and thinking it was a really catchy song. Come Together is a great Beatles classic that almost everyone knows. Here is the video of the Parent Trap scene where Here Comes the Sun is played in the background.

Come Together was also in a movie, and that movie is Across the Universe. Here is the scene from Across the Universe with Come Together.

I want to talk about a great artist that sounds a lot like Mumford and Sons, and his name is Phillip Phillips. Phillip Phillips was the winner of American Idol last year and has come out with his song Home that was number one on the charts. Home is a great song that talks about someone that has just moved to a new place and he is saying that he/she stays with him then he will "make this place he/she's home." Here is the music video of Home by Phillip Phillips.

He just recently came out with a new album that has Home and many other great songs on it, but the one that stood out to me was Gone, Gone, Gone which talks is about a couple and the boyfriend/husband is talking to his girlfriend/wife and saying that no matter what happens even after she is "gone," he will always be there. Here is the video with the lyrics of Gone, Gone, Gone by Phillip Phillips.

This week in class we talked and listened to the amazing Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash is also known as The Man in Black because he would always wear black. He is well known for his deep voice and song writing. My favorite songs by Johnny Cash are Walk the Line and Ring of Fire, these songs are classic Johnny Cash songs that are very recognizable. There is a movie called Walk The Line that is about Johnny Cash's life, it has Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon. Here is a clip of the song Ring of Fire from the movie Walk The Line.

The artist that I am going to talk about is the female vocalist in the Josh Abbott Band named Kacey Musgraves who recently came out with a song called Merry Go 'Round. This song talks about the stereotypical life of what living in a small town is like. For example, she talks about how if you don't have two kids by 21 then you're probably going to die alone and that no matter what you believe you had to go to church on Sunday. Instead of explaining all of them I will just put the lyrics up that will be followed by the video of Merry Go 'Round by Kacey Musgraves.

If you ain't got two kids by 21,
You're probably gonna die alone.
Least that's what tradition told you.
And it don't matter if you don't believe,
Come Sunday morning, you best be there in the front row like you're supposed to.

Same hurt in every heart.
Same trailer, different park.

Mama's hooked on Mary Kay.
Brother's hooked on Mary J.
Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down.
Mary, Mary quite contrary.
We get bored, so, we get married
Just like dust, we settle in this town.
On this broken merry go 'round and 'round and 'round we go
Where it stops nobody knows and it ain't slowin' down.
This merry go 'round.

We think the first time's good enough.
So, we hold on to high school love.
Sayin' we won't end up like our parents.
Tiny little boxes in a row.
Ain't whatcha want, it's whatcha know.
Just happy in the shoes you're wearin'.
Same checks we're always cashin' to buy a little more distraction.

'Cause mama's hooked on Mary Kay.
Brother's hooked on Mary J.
Daddy's hooked on Mary two doors down.
Mary, Mary, quite contrary.
We get bored, so, we get married.
Just like dust, we settle in this town.
On this broken merry go 'round and 'round and 'round we go
Where it stops nobody knows and it ain't slowin' down.
This merry go 'round.

Mary, Mary, quite contrary.
We're so bored until we're buried.
Just like dust, we settle in this town.
On this broken merry go 'round.
Merry go 'round.

Jack and Jill went up the hill.
Jack burned out on booze and pills.
And Mary had a little lamb.
Mary just don't give a damn no more.

I have decided to talk about Blink-182 because they were the band I listened to when growing up, and two of their greatest songs are All The Small Things and Dumpweed. It might just be the people I know but it seems like everyone knows the song All The Small Things, and I think it's because it is very catchy and rememberable. I like this song a lot so without saying anymore, here is the video for All The Small Things by Blink-182.

The next best song is Dumpweed, because of its same catchy tune and awesome guitar entrance. Here is the video for Dumpweed by Blink-182.

I know I have talked about them before but I have to talk about them again because they are so good, and that is the Zac Brown Band. I have discovered two great songs by them, and they are Natural Disaster and Day That I Die. These are great songs that are very catchy and have good lyrics. Here are the lyrics to Natural Disaster which will be followed by the video.

Had lips like candy
Hair floated like water
Skin like velvet made
The whole damn world slow down
She was a preacher's daughter
Never did what daddy taught her
And the rebel in her soul
Brought her to me

The river was cold
And the river was wide
She flowed from the mountain
Straight across the great divide
And her heart ran cold
But her love runs deep
She's fire on the mountain
Wrecking everyone she meets

She's like rain when she rolls in
But that sunshine in her thunder
Makes the loneliest heart wonder
If the ride is worth the pain
Might not be storm clouds in sight
Oh but don't you worry friend
She's coming around the bend
She's holding lightning in both hands

Lord please know
It's not time for me to go
The river has my heart
She's the keeper of my soul
On one side of the water
Sweet everlasting grace
The other side could end your life
Or steal your breath away

She's like rain when she rolls in
But that sunshine in her thunder
Makes the loneliest heart wonder
If the ride is worth the pain
Might not be storm clouds in sight
Oh but don't you worry friend
She's coming around the bend
She's holding lightning in both hands

She's a natural disaster
She'll tear the land in two
She's running to be running
Cause it's all she knows to do
She's a tumbleweed rolling
A river running wild
A hurricane blowing
She's the calm after the storm
Under an Appalachian sunset sky

She's like rain when she rolls in
But that sunshine in her thunder
Makes the loneliest heart wonder
If the ride is worth the pain
Might not be storm clouds in sight
Oh but don't you worry friend
She's coming around the bend
She's holding lightning in both hands

She's like rain
She rolls in
But there's sunshine in her thunder
She's coming around the bend
She's holding lightning in both hands

I really like that song, but I like Day That I Die even more because it's about a guy that has a melody stuck inside of him that he is trying to figure out what to do with it, but then he realizes that he is suppose to use that melody and create music for people till the "day that he dies." Here are the lyrics followed by the video for Day That I Die by the Zac Brown Band.

Early morning in a motel room,
Sunshine trying to creep on through.
Lost Sleep but I found a tune,
Stuck inside my head.
Cigarettes and tank of gas,
Headed off to nowhere fast,
Gotta find a way to make this feeling last.

Cause I believe that I,
Was born with a song inside of me.
Never question why,
I just kept on chasing that melody.
And as time goes by,
It's funny how time can make you realize,
We're running out of it.

On the day that I die,
I wanna say that I,
Was a man who really lived and never compromised.
And when I've lived out my days,
Until the very end,
I hope they find me in my home, a guitar in my hands.
I hope they find me in my home with my guitar in my hands.

Whoa, oh.
Whoa, oh.

A part of dawn to be ashamed of,
But good people are supposed to be up.
But I found peace with the path I took,
As I lay down my head.
Crossroads you gotta choose,
Which way do we win or lose.
But every bone in my soul says I sing on through.

Cause I believe that I,
Was born with a song inside of me.
Never question why,
I just keep on singing these melodies.
And as time goes by,
Its funny how time can make you realize,
We're running out of it.

On the day that I die,
I wanna say that I,
Was a man who really lived and never compromised.
And when I've lived out my days,
Until the very end,
I hope they find me in my home, a guitar in my hands.
I hope they find me in my home with my guitar in my hands.

Whoa, oh.
Whoa, oh.
Whoa, oh.
Whoa, oh.

We all go, we all go,
It's all over 'fore you know.

I believe that I
Was born with a song inside of me.
Never question why,
I just keep on singing these melodies,
And as time goes by,
Its funny how time can make you realize,
We're running out of it.

On the day that I die,
I wanna say that I,
Was a man who really loved and never compromised.
And while I live out my days,
Until the very end,
You can find me in my home, a guitar in my hands,
And you can find me in my home with my guitar in my hands.

Whoa, oh.
Whoa, oh.
Whoa, oh.
Whoa, oh.

This week we listened to some Pink Floyd, which I had never listened to, and to be honest I did not like it. It was not my type, I couldn't really understand them and they just weren't working for me. Something that we listened to that I did like was the Janis Joplin song Piece of My Heart, but the version I liked much better than Janis Joplin's version is Faith Hill's version. I feel like Janis's version is way to grungy and tough, but Faith Hill's version is much more understanding and easier to listen to. Another great artist who is a country singer that we listened to this week is Patsy Cline, and I have a personal connection to her because when I was younger my mom would sing her song Crazy in my church's variety show. She was great, and sounded a lot like her, so when I was listening to Pasty Cline's song Crazy I felt like I had gone back in time and was listening to my mom singing it. This was without a doubt my favorite part about this week.

Going on with the theme of my other blogs is another great country music singer. This great performer is from Waco, Texas and his name is Pat Green. I love Pat Green, the first time I saw him live was my first year of ACL in 2010. He was amazing, and that is still the best concert I have seen in the two years I have been to ACL. Pat Green has tons of great songs but the two songs I like the most are Wave On Wave and Carry On. These songs are great to sing along to and listen to and the first one I want to show is Wave On Wave. Here is the video of Wave On Wave by Pat Green.

The next song I want to show, that I like even more than Wave On Wave is Carry On. This song is so good that I have no words to describe how I feel about it. Here is the video of Carry On by Pat Green.

As I said before I don't really know any Jimi Hendrix songs except for Purple Haze, but I would like to know more than just one, because from what I've heard, Jimi Hendrix is amazing!

You may find this hard to believe but I like Taylor Swift. I love her music, and I'm not afraid to admit it. Now the only thing I don't like about her music is it's not country, yet it's under the country genre in iTunes, but that's beside the point. The thing I love about her music is that it is so catchy and rememberable. For example, her new song I Knew You Were Trouble is a very catchy song that I really like! Here's Taylor Swift's I Knew You Were Trouble.

Another song that I like that is pretty old is You Belong With Me, and I have to admit that this one sounds a bit more country. This is a very popular song that talks about a girl that wants to go out with a guy but that guy is dating another more popular girl, and the less popular girl can tell that the guy is not happy at all, and so she talks about how that guy "belongs with her." Here's the video and the lyrics for You Belong With Me by Taylor Swift.

You're on the phone
with your girlfriend ‒ she's upset
She's going off
about something that you said
'cause she doesn't get your humor like I do.
I'm in my room ‒ it's a typical Tuesday night.
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like.
She'll never know your story like I do.

But she wears short skirts
I wear t-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
That what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see
That I'm the one
Who understands you
Been here all along
So why can't you see
you belong with me,
You belong with me?

Walking the streets
With you and your worn out jeans
I can't help thinking
This is how it ought to be.
Laughing on a park bench
Thinking to myself
"Hey, isn't this easy?"

And you've got a smile
That could light up this whole town.
I haven't seen it in awhile
Since she brought you down.
You say you're fine -
I know you better than that.
Hey, what you doing
With a girl like that?

She wears high heels,
I wear sneakers.
She's cheer captain,
And I'm on the bleachers.
Dreaming about the day when you wake up and find
that what you're looking for has been here the whole time.

If you could see
That I'm the one
Who understands you
Been here all along
So why can't you see
you belong with me?
Standing by you
Waiting at your backdoor.
All this time
How could you not know, baby
You belong with me,
You belong with me?

[Instrumental]

Oh, I remember you were driving to my house
In the middle of the night.
I'm the one who makes you laugh
When you know you're about to cry.
I know your favorite songs,
And you tell me about your dreams.
Think I know where you belong,
Think I know it's with me.

Can't you see
That I'm the one
Who understands you?
Been here all along
So why can't you see
You belong with me?
Standing by you
Waiting at your backdoor.
All this time
How could you not know, baby,
You belong with me,
You belong with me?

You belong with me.

Have you ever thought just maybe
You belong with me?
You belong with me.

This week in class we listened to the Cream song Sunshine Of Your Love and I really like that song, but the lyrics are terrible. I can play that main tune in the song on guitar, so I was joyed when it came on. If it weren't for the lyrics this song would be amazing, but most people don't even notice the lyrics because the guitar part in this song is sick! Here is Sunshine Of Your Love the video followed by the lyrics.

It's gettin' near dawn,
When lights close their tired eyes.
I'll soon be with you my love,
To give you my dawn surprise.
I'll be with you darling soon,
I'll be with you when the stars start falling.

I've been waiting so long
To be where I'm going
In the sunshine of your love.

I'm with you my love,
The light's shinin' through on you.
Yes, I'm with you my love,
It's the morning and just we two.
I'll stay with you darling now,
I'll stay with you till my seeds are all dried up.

I've been waiting so long
To be where I'm going
In the sunshine of your love.

A country singer that I enjoy a lot is Lee Brice. I feel as if Lee Brice doesn't get enough publicity for the songs he puts out, because he has good songs and I only know of a few people that have heard them. These so called great songs I'm talking about are Hard To Love, Love Like Crazy, and A Woman Like You. Hard To Love is about a guy that is "hard to love" and wishes that he could be more like the person he loves. Here's the video of Hard To Love by Lee Brice.

Love Like Crazy is about a couple that got together when they were 17 years old and their friends thought it wouldn't last but we soon find out that they have been together for 58 years. Here are the lyrics followed by the video of Love Like Crazy by Lee Brice.

They called them crazy when they started out
Said, "Seventeen's too young to know what loves about"
They've been together fifty-eight years now
That's crazy

He brought home sixty-seven bucks a week
Bought a little 2 bedroom house on Maple Street
Where she blessed him with six more mouths to feed
Now that's crazy

Just ask him how he did it
He'll say, "Pull up a seat
It'll only take a minute
To tell you everything"

Be a best friend, tell the truth
And overuse "I love you"
Go to work, do your best
Don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

They called him crazy when he quit his job
Said them home computers, boy, they'll never take off
Well, he sold his one man shop to Microsoft
And they paid like crazy

Just ask him how he made it
He'll tell you faith and sweat
And the heart of a faithful woman
Who never let him forget

Be a best friend, tell the truth
And overuse "I love you"
Go to work, do your best
Don't outsmart your common sense
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

Always treat your woman like a lady
Never get to old to call her baby
Never let your prayin' knees get lazy
And love like crazy

They called him crazy when they started out
They've been together fifty-eight years now
Ain't that crazy?

A Woman Like You starts out with a wife asking her husband what he would do if he'd never met her. The song eventually ends up with the husband saying that he'd "take a gold band on [his] hand over being a single man," so here's the video for A Woman Like You by Lee Brice.

This week in class we listened to the Beach Boys Pet Sounds album, I knew a couple of songs on it like Wouldn't It Be Nice and Sloop John B, and to be honest, those were the only ones I liked. The reason may be because those were the only songs I knew, but I think if I listened to them more I would start liking some of the other songs. When I found out that Sloop John B wasn't originally on the album I was shocked because I really like that song. I also like Wouldn't It Be Nice and I know it's in the move 50 First Dates. Here's the clip from 50 First Dates of Adam Sandler singing it on his boat.

I like the genre of country more than any other genre because I live in Texas and have grown up listening to country music, and have always liked it. One classic country band is Rascal Flatts, they have so many good songs. There's Bless The Broken Road, Feels Like Today, Life Is A Highway, Mayberry and many more, but one of their new songs that I really like is called Come Wake Me Up. This song has a very soothing tune and very touching lyrics. This song is about the blurred line between reality and dreams. Here are the lyrics for Come Wake Me Up which will be followed by the video.

I can usually drink you right off of my mind
But I miss you tonight
I can normally push you right out of my heart
But I'm too tired to fight

Yeah the whole thing begins
And I let you sink into my veins
And I feel the pain like it's new
Everything that we were,
Everything that you said,
Everything that I did and that I couldn't do
Plays through tonight

Tonight your memory burns like a fire
With every one it grows higher and higher
And I can't get over it, I just can't put out this love
I just sit in these flames and pray that you'll come back
Close my eyes tightly, hold on and hope that I'm dreaming
Come wake me up

Turn the TV up loud just to drown out your voice, but I can't forget
Now I'm all out of ideas and baby I'm down to my last cigarette
Yeah, you're probably asleep deep inside of your dreams while I’m sitting here crying and trying to see
Yeah, wherever you are baby now I am sure you moved on and aren't thinking twice about me
And you tonight

Tonight your memory burns like a fire
With every one it grows higher and higher
I can't get over it, I just can't put out this love
I just sit in these flames and pray that you'll come back
Close my eyes tightly, hold on and hope that I'm dreaming

I know that you're movin' on
I know I should give you up
But I keep hopin' that you'll trip and fall back in love
Time's not healin' anything
Baby, this pain is worse than it ever was
I know that you can't hear me, but baby I need you to save me tonight

Tonight your memory burns like a fire
With every one it grows higher and higher
I can't get over it, I just can't put out this love
I just sit in these flames and pray that you'll come back
Close my eyes tightly, hold on and hope that I'm dreaming
Come wake me up
Oh, I'm dreaming
Come wake me up
Oh, I'm dreaming

This week we listened to some Bob Dylan, and I didn't like him that much. It's not his music, it's his voice, there's something about it that just annoys me. I feel like if his voice was better, his music would be amazing. There's an artist today that I think sounds a lot like Bob Dylan and he calls himself The Tallest Man On Earth. Here's a Bob Dylan song and then it will be followed by The Tallest Man On Earth song.

I think they sound similar, but you may not. Although, one thing they have in common is their voices are both annoying.

I mainly like country but there are a couple of rappers I like, and one of those rappers is B.o.B. I like B.o.B because he has a good voice and he can rap. most rappers just rap and can't sing at all but B.o.B can do both. A couple of songs I like by B.o.B are Bombs Away and Ray Bands. I like Bombs Away because of the tune and because of Morgan Freeman's voice at the beginning, and I like Ray Bands mainly because of the tune. Here's the video for Bombs Away and following the video for Ray Bands.

This week in class we watched The Beatles movie Help, and I liked that much more than Hard Days Night, because it was more entertaining. I didn't really know what was going on in Hard Days Night, but in Help it was easy to know what was going on. Help was funny, I thought that the way they tried to get the ring off of Ringo was hilarious. We didn't just watch the movie we listened to the album as well and my favorite songs were Help, Yesterday, and You've Got to Hide Your Love Away because I recognized it from an SNL skit just a couple of weeks ago. And I like Help because it is more pop than rock and I like Yesterday because it's just a good song.

A guy I like to listen to is Josh Turner, Josh Turner has a deep nice voice. Josh Turner could get any girl he wanted to because of his low voice. I saw him live at the Rodeo last year and it was amazing! I sang almost every song and it sounded like everyone else did too. My favorite Josh Turner song is Would You Go With Me, I like this song because of the tune and the low notes that are just amazing! Here is Josh Turner's Would You Go With Me.

I love that song and could probably listen to it any time. Another great Josh Turner song is Time Is Love, which talks about someone he loves who is willing to wait for him. Here is Josh Turner's Time Is Love.

This week we learned about The Who, and I didn't like them that much. I couldn't really understand them and their lyrics were too repetitive for me. I also feel like they sound to much like the Beatles, because during one song I thought we changed to listening to the Beatles. One crazy thing I learned about The Who is that their drummer put dynamite in his drum set and set it off at the end of a song without telling anyone, and the guitarist was right in front of the drum set and the dynamite blew his ear drums partially out. I think that, that is pretty stupid because, why would anyone put dynamite in their drum set and not tell anyone that you had it in there and were going to set it off. This just shows that The Who are pretty crazy. Here's the video of The Who's My Generation, where Keith Moon sets off dynamite in his drum set.

In my previous blogs I have written about the new bands I am listening to, but I have decided to change that up and talk about a band that I've has always liked for as long as I've heard them. The band I am talking about is The Fray. I absolutely love The Fray! I love their lyrics, vocals, and sound. A song that really speaks to me is Over My Head, that talks about a guy that is "over his head" for a girl he likes. This speaks to me because it's so hard to find a girl that is good for you, and once you do it is hard to put yourself out there to go and get her. Here are the lyrics to The Fray's Over My Head, which will be followed by the music video.

I never knew
I never knew that everything was falling through
That everyone I knew was waiting on a queue
To turn and run when all I needed was the truth
But that's how it's got to be
It's coming down to nothing more than apathy
I'd rather run the other way than stay and see
The smoke and who's still standing when it clears

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Let's rearrange
I wish you were a stranger I could disengage
Just say that we agree and then never change
Soften a bit until we all just get along
But that's disregard
Find another friend and you discard
As you lose the argument in a cable car
Hanging above as the canyon comes between

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your ...

And suddenly I become a part of your past
I'm becoming the part that don't last
I'm losing you and its effortless
Without a sound we lose sight of the ground
In the throw around
Never thought that you wanted to bring it down
I won't let it go down till we torch it ourselves

And everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind

Everyone knows
She's on your mind
Everyone knows I'm in over my head
I'm in over my head
I'm over my...

Everyone knows I'm in
Over my head
Over my head
With eight seconds left in overtime
She's on your mind
She's on your mind
